Scabies
 
Symptoms
  • Raised red skin
  • Blisters, pustules, or scabs
  • Intense itching, especially at night

Characteristics
  • Time from exposure to illness is one to two months
  • Commonly found on hands, arms, at or above wrist line, or on thighs
  • Transferred directly from an infected person
  • Can be transmitted by undergarments or freshly-soiled sheets

School Action and Communicability Comments
  • Exclude your child from school until you have written verification of treatment.
  • Scabies is communicable until treated.
  • Your entire family should be examined and your house thoroughly cleaned.
