Symptoms

Itching of anal area

Characteristics

Time from exposure to illness is three to six weeks
Spread directly from other infected persons, especially children by hand from anus to mouth
Spread indirectly through clothing, bedding, food, or other articles contaminated with eggs of parasite

Pinworms are communicable as long as worms are present in the intestine.
