Symptoms

  • Infestation of head, other hairy parts of body, or clothing with lice or nits (tiny white or brownish rice-shaped particles) 

Characteristics
  • Time nits (eggs) take to hatch is one week

School Action and Communicability Comments
  • Your child should be excluded from school until you have written verification of treatment.
  • Lice is communicable until treated.
  • Your entire family should be examined and your house should be cleaned thoroughly.
