Impetigo
 
Symptoms
  • Blisters or fluid-filled sacs covered with honey-colored crusts

Characteristics
  • Time from exposure to illness is one to six days, occasionally longer
  • Can be acquired from bacteria spread by direct contact with persons or articles, or through the air
  • Usually caused by Group A Beta Streptococcus

School Action and Communicability Comments

  • Exclude the student from school until blisters are dry and crusted.
  • Impetigo is contagious until sores are healed.
