Symptoms

  • Redness of conjunctiva (white of eye) 
  • May have drainage 
  • Eye irritation

Characteristics
  • Time from exposure to illness is 24 to 72 hours
  • Most cases are caused by virus, some bacterial 
  • May be spread through hand-eye contact

School Action and Communicability Comments
  • Seek medical advice and treatment.
  • The communicability of conjunctivitis depends on cause.
  • Exclude your child from school until doctor's verification of diagnosis and treatment are clear.
