Early Childhood Programs We offer classes at Merritt Elementary that provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities in a nurturing environment to give young children a love of learning that will follow them throughout their lives. ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) is a program that offers classes, events, and other opportunities for children and parents. Parents and children explore learning stations together and then separate for parent education. These classes are designed to provide support and learning opportunities for both parents and children. School Readiness Three is a fun introduction to the school setting. There will be hands-on learning activities that are developmentally appropriate for 3 and 4 year old children. All learning is play-based and presented in an engaging way. This class will help children build self-confidence and develop social skills independently of parents. Children must be 3 years old by June 1. School Readiness Four class is designed to get children ready for kindergarten by providing them with hands-on, developmentally appropriate, play-based learning opportunities. The students’ social-emotional development is one of the main areas of focus in this class. Children must be 4 years old by September 1.
