Mediacom World Class
For the 2019-2020 school year, Mediacom Communications is again offering 55 $1,000, non-renewabe scholarships to its World Class Scholarship Program to seniors. While it is not required that the student be a Mediacom customer, applicants must live in the areas serviced by Mediacom. All completed scholarship applications must include an essay on leadership, the applicant's school transcript and two filled-out recommendation forms.

American Bank of the North
American Bank of the North will award two non-renewable $2,500 scholarships to qualified and committee selected graduating seniors who will be attending a community college or four-year university for the 2019/2020 school year from high schools across Northeastern Minnesota. This program was instituted at American Bank as a way to show our commitment to the community and our belief in today's youth. Ideal candidates will be students of excellent academic achievement, who possess a variety of interests and leadership experience, show consistent community involvement, and the willing desire to make their community a better place. Knowledge is power, and education is the key to a better future for everyone. The high school and student will be notified on May 1, 2020 of the scholarship award winner and the award will be given to the student during the high school’s Awards Day.

Horatio Alger State & National Scholarships
The Horatio Alger Association’s scholarship programs are among the few in the nation that specifically focus on identifying young people who, similar to its Members, have overcome exceptional hardships. Despite facing adversities in their young lives, Horatio Alger Scholars have proven their ability to succeed. There are two types of bachelor degree scholarships - National and State. Two Minnesota students will be selected for National scholarships of $25,000 plus an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC for a National Scholars Conference in Spring of 2020. Ten Minnesota students will receive State scholarships of $10,000. Another new specialized scholarship opportunity in 2018 was the Denny Sanford Scholarship. There are up to 25 $10,000 scholarships available to qualified MN students who will attend the University of MN Twin Cities. In 2019, 18 students were awarded these scholarships. The Denny Sanford Scholarship has two application periods – Aug. 1-Oct. 25 AND Jan. 15-March.

Elks Most Valuable Student
The 2020 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply
Applicants need not be related to a member of the Elks.
High school graduates are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are signed; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
